Screen sharing a Powerpoint, Keynote & Google Slides on Toucan

Sharing slides on Toucan is simple, it just requires a little bit of prep beforehand to make sure that they look good. There are slightly different steps for Powerpoint, Keynote, and Google Slides, so search for the tool you're using in this article.

Powerpoint

Here’s a quick video that explains everything you need to know.

Step 1:

Open your Powerpoint slides so that the window is visible on your screen (not minimized).

Step 2:

Click the “Reading View” button at the very bottom of the window. The icon looks like a little book.

This will begin the slideshow from that slide. So make sure you click “Reading View” on the slide that you’d like to start with.

Step 3:

Go to Toucan and click the screen sharing button at the bottom of your screen.

When prompted, choose the “Window” option for screen sharing.

Then, click on your slides! This is how they will appear on Toucan:

Keynote

Here’s a quick video that explains everything you need to know.

Step 1:

Open the slide deck in Keynote and make sure that it isn’t minimized.

Step 2:

Select “Play” in the bar at the very top of your screen.

When you open that menu, “In Fullscreen” will be selected by default. Select “In Window” instead.

Step 3:

Hit “Play.” This will start the slideshow from the slide that you’re currently on.

Step 4:

Share your screen on Toucan. (Same as Step 3 of the Powerpoint explanation.)

Go to Toucan and click the screen sharing button at the bottom of your screen.

When prompted, choose the “Window” option for screen sharing.

Then, click on your slides! This is how they will appear on Toucan:

Google Slides

Here’s a quick video that explains everything you need to know.

Step 1:

Open your slide deck in Google Slides. Click the downward-facing arrow next to the “Slideshow” button at the top of your screen.

Select “Presenter view.”

This will open your slideshow in one window and another pop-up window with speaker’s notes.

Step 2:

Share your screen on Toucan. Click the screen sharing button at the bottom of your screen. When prompted, you can either choose the “Window” option for screen sharing or the “Chrome Tab” option for screen sharing (if your slide show is open using the Chrome browser). Select the window or tab with the presentation slides on it.
